Cyndy and I have been in drooling mode this week. We have gone shopping – metaphorically speaking – on your behalf, seeking out all the sensational spring clothing for SoSensational site visitors to buy all in one place.
There are 15 whole pages (yup, 15) of dresses for spring/summer – that’s somewhere north of 400 to choose from – featuring a huge number of brands, from All Saints to Valentino, via Phase Eight, Paul Smith and MaxMara. We were oohing and aahing as we were selecting them. We have to confess, we gave in to temptation. We have already had our credit cards out: Cyndy couldn’t resist a gorgeous, purple bandage dress from Phase Eight, which, I should explain, is a bandage dress designed to fit a real body, not that of an anorexic 14-year-old.
I was also very tempted by three quite dressy frocks, perfect for partying: a stunning shift dress in navy with sheer netting at the top – also by Phase Eight – the All Saints Garcia dress in a gorgeous shade of mushroom and a stunning wrap dress by Donna Karan in a stunning shade of cobalt. But I got a grip and decided I really needed a proper day dress I can wear for work and meetings. I was torn between a shapely Paul Smith shift in black with cap sleeves, but then reminded myself and have, ahem, a number of black dresses, and the one I eventually bought: a stretchy, drapey dress, again by Donna Karan, in mocha. I plan to wear it under a black jacket early in the season and alone, with strappy platforms and a big, slouchy tan bag (I am just about to browse our handbag galleries to find one) in summer.
Keeping a firm grip on our credit cards, we have also been selecting every other kind of spring purchase – trenchcoats and macs, boyfriend jackets and curvy little fitted jackets, brilliant jeans, trousers of every shape, from flaring 1970s styles to narrow Capri and ankle-hitting pants, beautiful blouses, tops and tees… you get why we were drooling.
And we have been taking care of our curvy and petite women, too: there are dozens of new, fabulous pieces on both sections – again, from great brands.
So, have you decided what you need for spring? Tell us what’s on your shopping list.
